The College of Education (COE) Zuba, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has trained 5,320 primary school teachers in the territory on various retraining courses.

This was disclosed by the Director of the Consultant Services Unit (CSU) of the college, Dr Moshood Bello, during a presentation on stewardship accountability held at the institute.

Dr. Bello said the programme, which is a collaboration with the FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), was conducted as part of an outreach program to the benefiting schools between 2023 and 2025.

He said the beneficiaries included 5,000 school-based teachers, 200 head teachers, and 120 support officers from basic education schools.

Earlier, the college’s provost, Dr. Sule Mundi, inaugurated new deans, directors, and heads of departments appointed to run the affairs of the institute for the next two years.

He also honored about 30 staff members who have retired from the college since its inception, a gesture he said began last year. One of the celebrants, Dr. Obadiah Salamatu, a retired chief lecturer, described her years of service at the school as very supportive and said it was a good feeling that she would continue to be remembered throughout her life.
